Helping Combat Athletes Train Smarter

My name is Juuso Vuorela, and I founded this platform with one goal: to provide combat athletes with practical, evidence-based strength and conditioning programs that improve performance without taking time away from what matters most, training their sport.

For more than 20 years, sport has been a central part of my life. My journey began with ice hockey before expanding into bodybuilding and martial arts. Over the past decade, I have focused on functional training, strength and conditioning, and combat sports, combining practical coaching experience with ongoing academic study.

Coaching Background

I have been coaching for nearly 15 years, beginning with general strength and functional training before moving into martial arts coaching. More recently, I have coached beginners in Muay Thai, kickboxing, and Kyokushin karate while continuing to develop my knowledge of athletic performance and long-term athlete development.
My coaching philosophy is built around clear communication, individual development, and evidence-based practice. I believe the athlete should always be at the centre of the coaching process. Every athlete has different strengths, weaknesses, goals, and training demands, and effective coaching means adapting to those individual needs rather than applying the same approach to everyone.

Martial Arts Experience

My own experience spans nearly ten years across several combat sports and self-defence systems, including:
Muay Thai
Kickboxing
Kyokushin Karate
Hokutoryu Ju-Jutsu
Defendo
Krav Maga
Training in multiple disciplines has given me a broader understanding of the different physical demands of striking, grappling, and mixed combat sports, which is reflected in the design of these programs.

Education

I am currently completing a Bachelor of Sports Studies at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in Finland, where I continue to deepen my understanding of exercise science, coaching, athletic performance, and long-term physical development.

Why These Programs?

Many combat athletes either follow generic gym routines that do not transfer well to their sport or rely solely on technical training without developing the physical qualities needed to perform at their best.
These manuals were created to bridge that gap.
Each program is designed around the specific demands of its sport while following established principles of strength and conditioning. Rather than chasing trends or unnecessary complexity, the focus is on developing the qualities that matter most: strength, power, speed, endurance, durability, and long-term athletic development.
Whether you train for recreation or competition, my aim is to help you become a stronger, faster, more resilient athlete through structured, practical, and evidence-informed training.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope these programs help you get the most out of your training.
